Research and Development (R&D) Internship

Paid R&D Internship:
Saft America Inc , a major innovator of high-technology solutions for the lithium ion battery industry, is currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic candidate to fill an open position as an Engineering Intern in the R&D Group located in Cockeysville.

The expectation is that this internship will run the duration of the school year.
Summary of Internship:
Train with our Scientists and Testing Engineers in R&D to work independently to evaluate, select, develop and implement programs for new chemistry design electrochemical testing and characterizationother physical and chemical characterizationprocess characterizationcontinuous product and process improvements.
Schedule:
Students should be able to devote twenty hours/week to the internship.
The internship will last continue throughout the school year, and potentially become a permanent position.
The selected student would start training on a routine working schedule.
As time passes, the intern would have more scheduling flexibility in order to accommodate classes and course load.
Required Education:
Students should be entering or already in their senior year of a BS in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science degree.
Desired Skills:
Electrochemistry, manufacturing experience, chemical engineering, process engineering, characterization, use of a quality system, use of Microsoft office software.
A vested interest in R&D.
Students should employ a strong, hands-on work ethic / capability.
A majority of the work will be completed in a lab (zero humidity dry room requires appropriate PPE).
Electrochemical background and experience will be a plus.
