Position Summary and Responsibilities Teledyne is looking for an Engineer to lead design and development projects supporting our line of custom power systems.
The desired candidate should be able to generate solid models from ideas and to convert high-fidelity solid models into an accurate representation for a variety of structural analysis.
The analysis is to include static structural, dynamic structural, and thermal - mechanical strain.
Candidates should demonstrate innovative mechanical design and custom product development experience on small (1 cm scale), multi-component assemblies.
The successful candidate will work with a team of development engineers and technicians to design and develop system prototypes.

Work Description:
Perform engineering design, development, and analysis for advanced power systems with support from the design and analysis teams.
Perform stress analysis and thermal - mechanical strain analysis.
Review and perform material trade studies.
Maintain analytical models.
Prepare and update documentation and presentations of modeling results.
Perform design optimizations and modifications inferred and proven from modeling results.
Support ASME certification of pressure vessels.
Assume leadership role in individual design projects.
Support verification, validation, and qualification of components and system prototypes.
Interface with customers, write papers, and prepare proposals.
Qualifications Required:
BS in Engineering (mechanical preferred) with 5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in static structural analysisExperience in CAD solid modeling.
Good communication skills, encompassing direct customer interaction, report writing, and presentation skills.
Self-motivated and good problem solving skillsTakes ownership of work product and personally invests in the effort to produce high quality results Desired:
MS in an engineering discipline.
Experience in thermal - mechanical strain analysis.
Experience in dynamic structural analysis.
Experience with Ansys or Femap/Nastran and SolidEdge.
Experience with ASME pressure vessel certification.
Experience with bolted joint analysis and associated standards.
Experience in manufacturing, including machining, welding, and other fabrication techniques.
Experience in one or more of the following power conversion technologies; thermoelectric or Stirling energy conversion, PEM fuel cell, small combustion systems, or similar energy storage and power conversion technologies.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
