Position Summary and Responsibilities Teledyne is now looking for a Process Engineer or equivalent to work with the product teams, specifically supporting our unique line of materials for electrochemical and thermoelectric products.
The desired candidate will have demonstrated experience with material fabrication processes and control, including some of the following; hot pressing, vacuum brazing, melting and sintering, milling, coating or tape casting and fuel cell assembly.
They will also have experience with implementing SPC methodologies in either a manufacturing or R&D environment, writing of standard operating procedures, design and implementation of preventative maintenance programs, and methodologies of document control.
Hands-on experience with equipment installation is a plus.
The successful candidate will be involved with a number of Teledyne products, ranging from advanced thermoelectric generators for NASA to electrolyzers sold around the world.
This person will work closely with a highly qualified team of materials and system engineers in an exciting and technically diverse organization.
Work Description:
Responsible for troubleshooting of day to day processing issues:
identification of problems, lead coordinated team to resolve issues, and adjust process/documentation to prevent their reoccurrence Working with the Engineering team, develop or refine processes:
includes hands-on process involvement to control and improve product performance and quality, scale up from R&D to Low Rate Initial Production Develop repeatable processes from unit operations that are highly sensitive to small changes in process variables, including environmental and human factors Investigate, identify, and control critical process parameters, including establishing process parameter limits In conjunction with Quality, Engineering, and technicians, develop and update process documentation for both R&D level processes and established manufacturing lines Design facilities, equipment and tooling to meet processing or production needs, including setting up rooms with environmental controls Work directly with highly capable lab and manufacturing technicians to produce materials Establish, track and analyze process and quality metrics Perform design of experiments (DOE) to improve and validate processes and parameters Apply SPC methodologies to both R&D processes and established manufacturing lines (Measurement System Analysis, control charting, establishing control limits, etc ) Help move towards a more electronic method of process data collection, summary, and historical tracking (databases, semi-automated collection and analysis of process measurements, trend charts, etc ) Qualifications Required:
BS in a relevant Engineering Field (Process/Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Engineering or equivalent).
10 or more years of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment similar to the work descriptions here.
Demonstrated experience in the control of new and/or multi parameter processes, including statistical analysis of the process and establishing process metrics.
Demonstrated hands-on knowledge and experience with process control in one or more of the following; ball milling, melting, sintering, hot pressing, dicing, vacuum brazing, coating, ceramic tape casting, assembly.
Experience with low volume/high value processes.
Experience in the procurement, setup, and validation of manufacturing or test equipment.
Experience with tooling design and implementation.
Self-motivated and good problem solving skills.
Good communication skills required.
Desired:
Experience with aerospace process control and quality assurance.
Experience with high temperature materials.
Experience with VBA Excel programming.
Experience with database programming (MS Access or SQL).
